Why Aren't My Pebble Tile Mosaics Interlocking Properly?

Pebble mosaics and other interlocking mosaic tiles are designed to create a seamless appearance, but some adjustment during installation is normal and expected.

Before installation, we strongly recommend dry-fitting all sheets to ensure the pattern flows naturally and the seams are minimized.

Tips for Achieving a Better Fit

  • Lay out several sheets before applying adhesive.
  • Check how the interlocking edges align with neighboring sheets.
  • Rotate or flip a sheet if necessary to achieve a more natural transition.
  • Adjust the position of individual pebbles by hand where needed.
  • Remove and reposition pebbles to eliminate visible gaps or repetitive patterns.

Because pebble mosaics are made from natural materials and irregular shapes, slight variations from sheet to sheet are normal. Minor adjustments during installation are often necessary to create the most attractive finished appearance.

Professional Installation Tip

Rather than treating each sheet as a separate unit, installers often blend the edges of neighboring sheets by repositioning a few individual pebbles. This helps conceal seams and creates a more continuous, natural-looking surface.

Taking a few extra minutes to dry-fit and adjust the sheets before installation can make a significant difference in the final result.
